The fox and the grapes, Kunstvereniging Diepenheim, 2017

Over the past two years the Kunstvereniging has paid special attention in its exhibitions to the mechanisms of change and the human behaviour in which these mechanisms result. Escapism, isolation, artefacts of the future and experimental organisational systems are subjects that were addressed. They are ways in which ‘change’ influences our perception of our environment and the way in which we react to this.

The group exhibition ‘The Fox and the Grapes’ is the last exhibition in this cycle and it focusses on the dissonance between really experiencing and interpreting. Meeting something ‘new’ or different challenges our existing conceptual framework. Sometimes this is done subtly, by raising a question or raising doubts, by intriguing or even disgusting someone. No matter what form it takes, the yet indefinable leaves room for new ideas.

The group exhibition ‘The Fox and the grapes’ shows spatial installations that subtly use elements of dissonance. The individual pieces challenge the senses with delicate and unknown material, fragile spatial gestures or captivating stories.
